7 types of people you meet when you date in Amman

This guy/girl is okay with being in a relationship, but no matter how long you stay with them they still don't consider it "serious". They still feel like they are too young (even though they might be 34) to settle down, or just the thought of being with one person for the rest of their lives scares the bejeezus out of them! 

Your mom loves him/her, but is trying to convince you to move on because you're getting older and she wants babies ASAP. 

These people don't care who/what/when/where they get married as long as they do it ... pronto! On your first date with this person they ask all the questions, they carefully assess your answers and put ticks or x's on their mental marriage checklist. 

This person keeps you second guessing ... You don't know what the hell changed between Sunday and Monday, so you refer to your texts for answers until it feels as though you're loosing your mind. Truth is, this person just has no idea what they want or is just checking "other" options. Walk away, slowly.  

This guy/girl has been jerking you around for months and for some people even years. You've been with them through thick and thin and just when you feel like things are starting to get better they break up with you saying that you are "too good for them, you deserve better and if you're happy they're happy even if it means not being with them."  

Cut the BS please! Just be honest and say you don't want to be in a relationship in the first place! It hurts less, I promise! 

This person acts like you are the forbidden fruit. They feel like they love you more than you love them, are waaaaaay too sensitive and take everything you say too personally. You are their world and they cling to you like a baby clings to its own mother. 

If you're both out with a group of friends, don't you dare stand up and sit somewhere else. They'll just stare at you from afar clenching their jaw with their veins popping out every minute you are away from them... 

God forbid any of you get stuck with a player. Whether it's a girl or a guy, a player is a player. No you can't fix them and make them commit, yes you will regret it, and no you are not a piece of meat. 

The player is a slick and charming person. You can probably find them in Amman's Good Pub or any other happening party. They start off by asking what you're drinking ... Before you know it, you two are doing shots and chatting the night away. They'll manage to get your number and keep you hanging too. It's an intoxicating anxiety fest like no other.  

This applies to both gals and guys ... They're both in it for the money. You can find them hunting for prey in expensive restaurants and bars, and when they find it, there's no letting go until every penny is spent. 

Be afraid, be very afraid.
