Ammanis, here's what you'll probably end up doing this NYE:
1. The clock strikes 12 and you're still stuck in traffic
With all the hype people build for NYE, if you leave the house anytime between 8.30 pm - 10 pm you will probably get stuck in traffic till midnight somewhere in Abdoun or between the third and first cirlce. You'll end up spending the night in the car, alone, listening to radio and cursing the day you decided to go out on New Year's.
2. A BYOB party...until the cops tell you to go to bed
A BYOB house party in someone's basement in Abdoun that will probably start at 11 pm, get busted by the cops at 1 am and everyone will be in bed by 2 am.
3. A 3arabi hotel party
A night with someone like Hani Mitwasi or Ziad Saleh performing at one of Amman's 5-star hotels. You'll end up having an extremely overpriced dinner, but you'll drink and bellydance till the wee hours of morning.
4. Awkward dinner with your friend's parents and Roya TV
These kinds of dinners with your friend's parents involve a lot of awkward silences with nothing but the sound of cutlery and some type of classical music in the background.
Your friend's mom will force you to watch the countdown on Roya TV while their dad snores on the couch.
5. Watching a movie, just so you can keep yourself awake until 12 pm
A hot cup of tea, an old favorite movie and trying to keep your eyes open past 11 pm.
6. Car bar-ing in Abdoun
You park your car on one of those beautiful Abdouni views, wait till the clock strikes 12 and you watch the fireworks from behind the Le Royale hotel while listening to A State of Trance on the radio.
We hope you spend your NYE with the people you love, stay safe and we hope 2017 is filled with happiness and joy. :)
