Yesterday, the curtains fell on Middle East’s biggest fashion extravaganza, Fashion Forward season 8 . And it left a sure-to-be enduring mark, especially when it came to regionally-based designers.

Here are our picks for the most unforgettable looks we saw in Fashion Forward 2016:

1. Amato

The king of couture in the UAE, Furne One presented one of his best collections to date. We can’t get enough of these feminine belted dresses with delicate lace, linen and tulle. They are the perfect choice for the ultimate princess look.

2. Orkalia

What’s not to love about this cobalt blue masterpiece from Dubai-based Orkalia? It has everything from intricate embroidery to unique lines to body enhancing silhouette. It’s a show-stopping piece, no doubt.

3. Zaid Farouki

It’s hard to ignore this powerful look by Zaid Farouki. The draped bronze fabric mimics a sand dune in the Arabian Desert. We think that the addition of the masculine shemagh is a genius touch that places emphasis on the Arabic/Bedouin look, and subverts gender in an interesting way.

4. Hussein Bazaza

Inspired by a beautiful underwater siren, Bazaza gave us this enchanting gown with flower embroidery on light chiffon. We can’t think of a better way to enter a wedding party!

5. Zena Presley

This dress is the definition of “glamour meet modernity”. It’s a great take on the little black dress with its off-shoulder detail, defined waist and feminine pencil skirt. We totally see Elissa or Haifa wearing it.
