Mabel "Madea" Simmons is a hilarious movie character created and portrayed by American actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry.

Perry has played the character in 9 movies so far, with a 10th currently in the works. The movies typically center around her, a vindictive yet righteous old woman, with a penchant for overreacting. Sounds familiar?

Here are 11 ways Madea reminds us of our Arab aunts.

1. She makes bad boys behave

The hard way! Ever done something slightly wrong? Your aunt will definitely not let it go, and may even throw in a shahatta or two to get the point across!

2. She's a great cook

You'd be lucky if your tante invited you over for lunch because collard greens and soul food are to Madea what mashashi and mashbous are to your auntie!

3. She's stylish too

She was born a sett el-settet, and don't you ever forget that!

4. Admittedly, she has a slight anger management problem

Stay away when she's hangry! And don't you ever talk back to her!

Just replace whatever she's throwing with a shahatta for instant khala

5. But she's a bundle of joy!

Not to mention her love for dabke and zaffe!

6. Madea will not tolerate young people with attitude!

Just like our aunts, Khala Madea is more than willing to handle some of the brattiest of teens.

7. She's wise

Even if we disagree with her at times, we always go back to seek her advice.

8. And she expects you to respect formalities

Yes, ya sett al-kol!!

9. Tante Madea is just fearless!

Also, fast and furious! But our aunties can definitely show her a new move or two.

10. She can't stand sagging pants!

And she couldn't care less if it's a fashion statement. You must be mrattab at all times!

11. Aaaaand she can't stand Trump!

Because she got good taste! :P

Just like tante Madea, our aunts might scare us a bit sometimes, but we love them to death.
