1. The grand sets/villas

We don't all belong to the 1 percent of the population who live in 2asr Yaldiz and it'd be nice to see less exaggerated and more relatable sets in many Ramadan dramas.

2. The fool proof make-up scenes

Water proof, illness proof, death proof make-up.

3. The out of this world make-up scenes

Seriously? Who sleeps like this?

4. The background music

When it's not cringe-worthy, the background music in most series is either too overwhelming or has nothing to do with the action taking place in the scene.

5. The sound effects

Need we say more?

6. The facepalming dialogues and plot lines

Facepalm after facepalm.

7. The actors who can't act

And those who overact.

8. The hour-long musical intros

WHY? WHYYYY?

9. The sexist portrayal of women

Don't get us started on this one.

While some series have made strides when it comes to the portrayal of women, we've still got a major problem with many others.

This is because when they're not confining a woman's role to the household/kitchen, they're featuring her as someone who stays in an abusive relationship, out of choice.

It's 2017, these should no longer be acceptable portrayals of Arab women.

10. The mistakes

With 2016 accessories in period dramas, and mobile phones being held upside down, there's not much left to say, is there?

11. And this bonus...

Definitely not inspired by Hitchcock.

Fingers crossed for less of all this, and more promising dramas this year.
