When Friday and Saturday (AKA: the weekend) finally arrive in Dubai, you are bound to experience one – or ALL – of these moments/things/situations that define a weekend in the emirate.

1. Friday brunches

As if we can start the list with anything else! This entry starts as glorious and ends up with one of these situations:

Well, if you don’t consume your body’s weight of alcohol ...

  1. Vomiting in a sink
  2. With one shoe
  3. Breakup/hookup
  4. In Barasti until 3 a.m.

2. A fancy yacht trip

You can’t possibly afford it, but you ended up sipping champagne on that cool yacht. Your BFF knows the guy, who knows the friend of the guy, who owns the yacht.

3. A quick nap while waiting for your car

Nothing kills the buzz after a good Friday night out than waiting for an hour for your car at the DIFC valet. The buzz kill will multiply by 10 if you lost your valet ticket ...

4. Striking up awkward conversations with half drunk strangers in front of the Pier7 elevator

Because what else can you do while waiting for 15 minutes to get to Cargo or Atelier M?

P.S: Trust us, don’t try taking the stairs!

5. Circling Kite Beach parking looking for an empty spot

Until you give up and ditch your car in the first sand pit you encounter ...

6. A day in Cove beach or Zero Gravity

That includes: dieting the whole week to lose the small “keresh” you have, choosing your best swimsuit and shades, not getting your hair wet if you are a lady and documenting the whole experience on Snapchat with hashtags such as #bliss #YouCantSitWithUs and #ThisIstheLife

7. Feeling good about yourself because you finally visited Old Dubai

Especially if you’ve been in the emirate for five years ... but have never set foot in Deira or the Creek.

8. Canceling that camping trip to RAK

You spent the whole week planning it with your friends. But now you're lazy and those cocktails at Zuma last night were just so good!

9. Crying for a few minutes on Saturday morning

As you try to pay your DEWA, Du, Etisalat and SALIK bills and can't remember all the passwords ... The tears will multiply if you decide to treat your car to a car wash!

10. Feeling superior to others because you finally managed to book at table on Friday night at Nola, Mythos or Couqley

Because you were simply smart enough to book at the beginning of the week, and didn’t leave it for the last minute ...
