If you're Egyptian or lived in Egypt long enough, you've probably realized that racism is fairly alive in the country. For instance, when a leading newspaper in Egypt, Youm7, published a front page article with the "n" word plastered on it and no repercussions happened to the people responsible, that's blatant and unapologetic racism.

Another glaring example was when Nada Zaitouna, a young Nubian woman, was kicked out of Seif Pharmacy, a famous pharmacy franchise, and was told that "they don't serve her kind" due to the color of her skin. Wanting to shed light on racism in Egypt, Nada took to Facebook and wrote up a testimonial of the incident that occurred and it quickly went viral.

Let's clear up the confusion, shall we? First of all, Egypt is located in North Africa and therefore, Egyptians are African. Second of all, not all Africans are dark skinned. Lastly, and most importantly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having dark skin.

Here's a list of reasons why Egyptians should be proud of of their African roots:

1. The amount of diversity
